I think all the agencies pretty much train their instructors not to give out any more info than what is in the course though so you have to pay for the next course. This annoyed me, but other divers are more than happy to give you more info when you dive - just ask questions on group dive outings (for different ways of learning). I prefered the way the PADI materials were presented; it seemed easier to learn the things you had to memorize. Their books were better as well.
